I very much welcome the extension of time granted to allow for submissions in relation to Foras na Mara’s application for a 35 year lease to construct an electricity generating station off the coast of Furbo in Galway Bay.
It seems that following the interview I did on local radio with Keith Finnegan earlier this morning deploring the failure of Minister Coveney to respond, Junior Minister, Sean Kyne subsequently came on the show to confirm that an extension of time has been granted up until the 9th September.
Well done to the local residents who have worked so hard on this matter and up until just before the Keith Finnegan Show came to an end today at 12 O’Clock were working to the deadline of 5pm today.
While the extension granted is not for the length of time sought, at the very least it will give some comfort to people and allow time for comprehensive submissions.
